Why are there so many smart people, crammed with lots of data and trained in how things work in ways that don’t really work?
The more we think we know, the less we really know, yet the confidence is high. One of the biggest hurdles we face is not knowing what we don’t know.
We are trained for the last problem, not the one that just showed up today.
Beware of the herd mentality that grows as we accumulate data and credentials. We tend to cede power to those we label the smartest, most savvy among us, and like sheep follow them right off the cliff.
We can be smart, data-rich, and well-trained, but there is never a guarantee we will get the results promised.
Trust, but verify who you follow.
