Crossfit Benchmark Girls: Cindy

I’m still waiting on my friend Mike to start posting about CrossFit. In the meantime, I’ll plug for CrossFit with this challenge from Aaron. I have two months to prepare for Cindy. Who is Cindy? I’m glad you asked.

The Benchmark Girls
If you make your way over to the CrossFit Faq, you’ll find a section called The Benchmark Girls. I’ve never seen anything more beautiful in my life. Now, I know what you’re thinking. When you get your testosterone back in check and have recovered from disappointment, come finish reading.

Cindy
CrossFit has a list of workout challenges called by women’s names. There are so many girls, I may have my hands full for the next few years. But let’s give each one the respect they deserve. Here’s Cindy’s preferred form of torture is as follows:

  • One repetition is 5 pull ups, 10 push ups, and 15 air squats in order.
  • Perform as many repetitions as possible (AMRAP) in 20 minutes.

First Date
Now, I know what you’re thinking. Cindy may not be worth the trouble, but I just couldn’t resist. This afternoon before my first ever Aqua class with the senior citizens, I decided to give Cindy a go. I finished prematurely after a solid 6 repetitions while talking on the phone with my boy Joe. I hope Cindy’s not disappointed.

Next Time
I checked in with Aaron and found out that kipping through the pull ups is fully encouraged. Fortunately, I’m not sorry for running a first attempt with form Nazi on my shoulder. My joints will thank me in the morning. Thanks for a hell of a workout, Cindy. Until next time, get some rest. You’ll need it.
