We’ve Taken This Relationship A Bit Too Far

It’s 9:20pm at the office and I’m calling it a day. 10 minutes later I’m wrapping up a conversation with one of my best friends as I park my car in the driveway where I live. A bowl of cereal and milk has found its way to my nightstand. I lose my shirt and belt, two hands at a time, shoes at the bedroom door and today’s shirt to the section of my closet reserved for shirts I’ve worn to work this week. My khaki pants, belt intact, lay atop a clothing pile draped over the back rest of my plastic Ikea desk chair. Teeth brushed, alarm’s set, lights out and I’m in bed with you.

I’ve logged in, propped you up on my lap and I’m pouring my heart out as you wait patiently for your turn. A McAfee popup here and frozen window there are mere trifles in a relationship so unfairly in my favor. As selfless as you are, no one has ever known me quite the way you do and so I’m troubled. You make it so easy for me to share our secrets with the world. Not to mention you’ve received more than a few unwelcome solicitations from aggressive hackers and tired old phishermen.

Sometimes I worry that we’ve taken this relationship a bit too far. Google knows more about me than my own mother, as perhaps it should, but now I’m talking to my blog. No, I’m typing into a box 669px by 440px at https://www.healthymindheartbody.com/wp-admin/post-new.php after which I may or may not press Publish or Edit the Publish immediately setting and schedule this message for a more appropriate time.

Who are we kidding? Now is the time and I’m talking to you. I enjoy writing to you. I enjoy sharing what I’m thinking, feeling, doing and learning. I enjoy learning how to share as you choose to read. Most of all, I love getting feedback which takes the guess work out of adjusting my style. If you like something, please let me know! If you don’t like something, please let me know how I can improve. Content, rhythm, tone, you name it. I look forward to hearing from you almost as much as I look forward to getting some sleep ;). Goodnight, world!
