Lost Article

I just lost the article that I was going to post tonight and I want to vomit. Honestly, I’m not sure what to do right now. I’ve always been pretty patient and even-tempered and I’ve only gotten more understanding with age, but this feels like battery acid in my stomach. Vase shots of hot 151 don’t feel like this. Is being a man or sucking it up the healthiest way to handle the physically uncomfortable byproducts of frustration? I’m fairly certain sitting with this is increasing my cortisol levels and increasing my risk for ulcers and stomach cancer, negligibly but literally. Fortunately, I don’t drink so I’m not really at risk, but I have been popping liver-taxing anti-inflammatory pain killers since I injured my toe a month ago. Which, by the way, was so excruciatingly painful this evening that I had to cut my jog short at about 7 seconds. Wow, look at me run with the negativity, pun intended. Pay close attention, kids. This is how not to handle frustration and negativity.

How to Handle Frustration and Negativity

Honestly, I could have reacted much worse, but let’s look at what I did right and how we could do better. I didn’t break anything or hurt anyone and my vocal chords are resting calmly with the bitter, post-nasal taste of cry-baby victim. Honestly, I’m pretty fine but mourning the death of the article I just poured my time, energy and heart into. The best thing I did for myself was start writing this article. Though laced with negativity, this article is a productive result of a painful situation. Second, that which was lost aside, finding a replacement is a highly effective way of halting spirals of self-loathing and curbing the sickening vomit feeling that kicked off this pity party. There’s a drum’n’bass song more fitting for this moment but a few of you will be glad to know I can’t remember it, so instead we have Missy Elliot to kick off this dance therapy.

Flip It And Reverse It

There’s nothing like a sassy old hip hop dig to make you feel… ridiculous. God this song is dirty. I can’t believe I publish this stuff. On the internet of all places. Is it worth it? Let me work it.

So why didn’t I just rewrite the article? It’s all up in my head, right? Yeah, but that article was written with the excitement of sharing and entertaining and it’s taken my half an hour to get rid of my resentment and frustration. Talk about holding a grudge, and against myself of all people. Whatever, I hear that guy killed an article. Yeah, and a damn good one at that.

So, before this article eats up the remainder of my Sunday night, I’m going to call it a job well redone, an ulcer avoided, a successful demonstration of turning poop into poopcicle. Seriously, I can’t believe I publish this stuff.
