The Priciest Rehabilitation Centers in the World

While checking into a rehabilitation center isn’t the cheapest endeavor to begin with, some facilities have gone above and beyond to offer their recovering addicts luxury and perks – and with those five-star amenities comes a whopping five-star price tag. It’s true: the rich and the famous (or just the rich) can spend more in one month at a rehab center than the average American will on four years of college tuition at a state school. That’s one month and over $20,000, and in most cases, much, much more. Click here for Promises Malibu treatment center reviews.

Jealous of what their riches can buy? Disgusted that Celebrity Drug Rehab Stories get splashed all over the pages of the tabloids? Or do you walk a neutral path and think different people just need different things to help them recover from their addictions? You can decide for yourself after you take a look at the priciest rehab centers in the world and the exclusive amenities they offer their guests.

Promises – Malibu, California

Promises tops most lists and is perhaps one of the most name-recognizable rehab centers out there, thanks to top celebrity clients like Robert Downey, Jr., Diana Ross and Ben Affleck. Nor is it just a drug and alcohol treatment center – the Promises team boasts a host of skilled and certified psychiatric therapists for those who simply need to recharge and retreat. The beautiful Malibu estate houses only 24 clients at a time; they receive their pick of three different luxurious housing options, along with gourmet meals, access to a gym, hiking and rock climbing, massage therapy and tennis courts. And Promises’ panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean doesn’t come cheap – depending on which services you take advantage of, one month at this palatial center can set you back anywhere from $33,000 to almost $50,000.

The Meadows – Wickenburg, Arizona

After his humiliating guilty admission to the world, Tiger Woods retreated to The Meadows in the Sonoran Desert. Like Promises, The Meadows caters to people with addictions ranging from sexual to gambling, as well as a host of psychological disorders, like bipolar disorder, depression and post-traumatic stress. Set on 14 acres, recovering addicts can enjoy therapeutic horseback riding, tai chi, acupuncture and yoga, while the gorgeous desert setting and The Meadows’ holistic approach to healing works to set your body and mind to rights once again. Just make sure you can afford the approximately $33,500 price tag for a 35-day stay.

The Sanctuary – Byron Bay, Australia

Byron Bay has become an epicenter in Australia for promoting holistic and alternative products and businesses to people who need deep healing and relaxation, so it should come as no surprise that The Sanctuary drug and alcohol rehabilitation center is located here. Each client receives his or her own private accommodations, with a variety of properties to choose from. Some of the most popular are the beachfront residences, with doors that open onto an expanse of pristine sand and an awe-inspiring view of the ocean. Clients can enjoy the therapeutic healing of a host of activities, like kayaking, day spas, whale watching or even visiting an art gallery, while personal chefs cater to the body and the soul with fresh, organic and in-season ingredients whenever possible. Take your checkbook, though – just a week’s stay in The Sanctuary will run you about $18,500.

Passages – Malibu, California

Whether it’s the sunshine or the proximity to Hollywood, Malibu boasts another luxury, upscale rehab center in the form of Passages, where $40,000 to $50,000 per month buys wealthy recovering addicts exclusivity, private chefs, hypnotherapists and masseuses, along with a host of other physical, spiritual and mental attendants whose sole purpose is to re-strengthen the addict’s body, soul and mind.

Prive Swiss – California and Connecticut

While rehabilitation isn’t pretty, it can’t hurt to go through with it in the “beautiful world” of what was once known as Beau Monde, a chain of sumptuous rehab centers which each only house five guests at a time. Reworked and reopened (and now housing only three clients at a time), with treatment centers on the east coast, clients of Prive Swiss will find themselves recovering in the lap of luxury, with personalized, gourmet meals, twice-weekly massages, anti-aging medicine, acupuncture, amino acid therapy and much more. A super-private and super-exclusive stay with Prive Swiss can topple $90,000 for a month of rehab.

Wow, some of these rehabs sound more like resorts or country clubs than rehabs! It’s definitely a great sanctuary for any wealthy struggling addict. Maybe one day this level of service will be the standard across the board for recovery techniques and may be more affordable for the average person.
