“…we fail when we get distracted by tasks we don’t have the guts to quit.” – Seth Godin
Part of knowing what to do is knowing what to stop doing. It’s easy to get stuck on the treadmill because the treadmill keeps us busy and preoccupied, keeps us distracted from the important choices, the important changes, we need to make.
The treadmill is safe and predictable. We get lured into the false assurance that we are making progress, when in fact we are running in place, perhaps losing ground. Stepping off – breaking the cycle – requires commitment, requires embracing risk and taking on challenge. It’s difficult, but it’s how you free up the space and energy to continue the journey to your dreams.
Is it time to abandon the safe seduction of whatever treadmill you’re on, and just step off?
