4 Of The Most Common Reasons Why Your Weight Loss Might Have Stalled

You might have had this experience of one of your close family or friends come up to you for some weight loss advice, and you immediately telling them exactly what they need to do in order to get into really great shape. Of course once they follow your advice they were well on their way to losing all that excess fat.

A good example of this is that friend of yours that has been known to drink one can of soda after the next for as long as you’ve known him… and one day he comes up to you for some tips to lose weight and all you say to him is to drop the cans of soda and he will easily be able to shed the excess fat.

Or maybe you’ve got that co worker who keeps eating fast food for lunch every single day, and you tell her that she will lose a lot of weight if she just starts drinking more water and eating a salad instead of the burgers.

But these are really simple solutions to very obvious reasons why people are not losing weight. But what about your situation? You’ve been following a healthy lifestyle for as long as you can remember, but even with the consistent effort you’re still not losing the weight that you want to lose.

Well the reason for this is that you’ve probably hit some sort of weight loss plateau.

What do I mean by plateau… well let’s take a look:

1. You’re Thinking Way Too Much About The Purity Of Your Diet

If you have some sort of food allergy, then it is completely understandable that you would nit pick at your meals to make sure that they don’t contain any of the ingredients that you are actually allergic to. A good example would be that if you’re a little sensitive to things like celiac, gluten or dairy then you would want to take the time to make sure that they are not in your meals.

However if you’re perfectly healthy and don’t suffer from any sort of food allergy, then don’t you think it is a little waste of time to go all crazy about what is in your meal? All of that stress you are causing yourself for no real benefit. In fact that added stress will result in your body holding onto the fat that you are actually trying to get rid of.

Yes, it’s important that you ensure your diet is healthy and well balanced but don’t overly obsess about it because it will cause your weight loss to plateau.

2. You’re Not Eating in Relation To The Level Of Exercise You Do

If you are a fitness fanatic who is in the gym every single day of the week lifting those weights, but still you find yourself a little chubby then it might be a sign that you need to up the amount of carbs that you consume.

On the other hand if the exercise that you do basically revolves around you just taking a walk every evening then you really don’t need to change up your diet too much.

You need to consume carbs in relation to the amount you physically exert yourself. That means if you exercise more then you should eat more, but if you don’t exercise that much then don’t eat so much. However keep in mind that if you don’t get enough carbs into your body and you do exercise quite heavily then you will end up doing some serious damage to your thyroid which will ultimately lead to you not losing the fat you want to lose.

Just ensure that you’re eating in accordance to the amount of exercise you do… it really is as simple as that!

3. You’re Not Exercising Consistently Enough

If you are only focused on eating right then trust me in the long term that is not going to be enough if you want to really get into great shape. You have to start exercising consistently if you want to get into the best shape of your life.

But make sure that you keep up with the diet part because exercise alone will not help you shed those extra pounds. Diet and exercise go hand in hand.

The great thing about exercise is the fact that it will help to boost the amount of testosterone and growth hormone that is in your body. This will lead to you losing a lot more weight in a shorter period of time.

Another great benefit of doing exercise regularly is that the vast majority of the calories that you consume will go toward building up lean muscle mass instead of excess fat.

So make sure that you create a consistent action plan for exercise… and when you do, the results will begin to come in fast!

4. You’re Failing To Follow One Program For Long Enough

While the Internet is truly amazing in the sense that it has enabled us to gain access to a vast pool of information, it has also meant that we are constantly being flooded with tons and tons of useless information.

Every single day it seems like there are more and more blogs starting up on the subject of weight loss, and none of them seem to agree on what the best way to lose weight actually is!

So with this vast pool of information what you’re finding is that instead of people trying one thing and learning by trial and error, they are instead going online and reading up on hundreds of different accounts of other people’s fat loss success stories. While this may serve up as motivation to keep moving forward in their own journey, in the long run it will just end with the person getting extremely overwhelmed and not actually doing anything to move towards their own fat loss goals.

A better thing to do would be to pick out one program and just put it into practice for a few months. This is the best method to actually find what works for your own body.

So there you have it, four of the most common reasons why people experience some sort of weight loss plateau. Hopefully by now you will know exactly what you need to do in order to move forward and get into terrific shape!
