Awake At 4:20 Because 5am Was Good

In some bizarre celebration of yesterday’s 5am success, I’ve woken this morning even earlier. I didn’t take my sleeping pills earlier than usual; in fact, I’m not taking sleeping pills at all. Melatonin and Z-12 have had their chance and failed miserably to yield any long-term healthy sleep habits. The only habit I was forming was an unhealthy trust that they would take the effort out of getting healthy, regular sleep. In reality, I’ve just needed something to be excited about and a little bit of self-control.

What’s to be excited about?
I’ve heard countless times in my research that many successful people contribute their success to waking up every day at 5am before to get a jump on the world. While this is a large part of my (mostly unsuccessful) motivation to wake up consistently at 5am, it’s probably contributing a bit of excitement. What I’m really excited about is how good it feels to be awake and productive this early in the day. I’ve finally found a routine that is both healthy and feels good. Everything is falling into place.

I wake up, relax and get things done that I usually leave until after work. It’s a wonderful feeling to be at work before everyone else. I’m in to work earlier than usual and I have nothing hanging over my head at the end of the day. I may even go out tonight if I can find something to do before my fantastically early bedtime.
