Integrating Interests

I love to sort and group. I put things in their appropriate box and contents of each box remain separated and organized. This is true both literally and figuratively. But the real fun begins when more than one box gets opened at the same time.

British Petroleum and the Gulf Oil Spill are hot topics in the news media. By purchasing shares in NYSE:BP, I’ve encouraged myself to pay more attention to the news. By opening my financial box, I’ve encouraged the opening of my world-news/contemporary-issues box as well. These boxes are no longer gathering dust.

How do you integrate your different interests or use one to inspire another?

I compartmentalize interests so I don't get confused by them all (strong tendancy of mine). For instance, I have 2 reliable news sources, and I listen to them. If I have excess interest in something I do a bit of research. But for the most part I leave it to those two sources. If I didn't my curiousity would run rampant and its all I would do.

I can certainly relate to needing to set limits on interests. It's difficult for me to not run further than my knees can handle, or to get to bed after I've begun a Wikipedia rampage.

What about the integration of diet and supplementation with fight training? Do those all stem from one interest, or would one still stand without the other? If the latter is true, I'd propose you do integrate interests.
