Life beyond the valley

“People spend their entire lives at those lower altitudes without any awareness that this high country exists.” – Robert Pirsig from Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

If you spend all your time in the valley, you’ll miss the view, you’ll miss life at the peak, at a higher level.  Going for new, higher goals means climbing to higher ground.  It means moving through the thinner air of uncertainty, maneuvering the switchbacks – the zigzag path you encounter as you climb to greater heights.  .

If you want more in your life, you have to go higher.  You have to climb, to move through rough terrain, to persist on your journey as the grade gets steeper and more effort is required.   But at the peak there is beauty, wonder and the unexpected joy of life at a higher level –  the rewards you enjoy because you took the risk, pursued your goals, and moved beyond the valley.
