Napoleon Hill – How To Get Rich Via The Law Of Attraction

What I Intend To Give In Return For That Which I Desire From Life

In this post, we’ll address the assignment for page 2.

On page 2, write down a clear statement of precisely what you intend to give in return for that which you desire from life, and then begin giving.

I’ll start by being as vague and unarguable as possible and attempt to hone in on a “clear statement of precisely what I intend to give.” As a starting point, all I have to give is my time and energy, the latter which can come and be directed in many forms and ways. I’d like to further leverage Napoleon’s wisdom by suggesting that the majority of my time and energy would be best directed towards gaining “wisdom with which to accept and use wisely the riches I received at birth in the form of the power to control and direct my mind to whatever ends I desire.”

Wisdom and Riches
In an effort to be more actionable, let’s define the sources of wisdom and the riches we received at birth. Napoleon helps us with the latter in his suggestion that we received “the power to control and direct our minds.” I think it’s important to understand that this power is like a muscle in that it can be strengthened or abused and atrophied. In a later article, I will discuss how we can better harness the power to control and direct our minds and will likely focus on self-discipline and the prefrontal cortex to cover both practical methods of exercise and a more neuro-technical understanding of our minds.

Now, let’s discuss the most effective and efficient sources of wisdom for achieving our goals. First, don’t forget about me and my blog ;). Second, the vast majority of us were subject to formal schooling, completed secondary school and many went on to tertiary school and higher level degrees. While I value formal education, I strongly believe that obtaining higher level degrees is neither an effective nor efficient means to achieving any goals but securing a middle-class income which is ideal for raising a family but not for beating the money game, building kingdoms and organizing a World Government Council. I believe the one greatest actionable contributor to success, the most important source of influence and education in anyone’s life is the company they keep. The people, places, books and machines you interact with the most are the driving environmental influencers that will determine who you become, how difficult it was to get there, and ultimately whether or not you consider your story to be one of fruitless struggle or abundant success.

And of course, per Mr Hill’s suggestion, I’ll close with this mantra:

I ask not for divine providence or more riches, but more wisdom with which to accept and use wisely the riches I received at birth in the form of the power to control and direct my mind to whatever ends I desire.
