In the quoted passage, an old man becomes painfully aware of a timeless principle – that when you ignore your blessings there is a negative outcome. If you substitute the word “talent” for “blessing”, and the word “regret” for “curse”, you get a key concept. There are few things in life more burdensome than the nagging regret of unfulfilled talent, of gifts ignored.
Life moves fast. Pay attention. Recognize and embrace – use – the gifts, the blessings, the talents that show up.
