This workout maximizes efficiency, or what I call, value density. Busy work, family and social lives leave us no time for chores like cleaning out the basement, or you’re just too lazy, or calling your mother-in-law, or you just don’t want to. We want to stay healthy but we just don’t have the time; is this a question of priorities or a question of efficiencies?
Work from Home
Forget about the gym! The working workout starts at home. No more “getting ready”, driving, driving home while tired and sweaty, delaying eating time, showering time, nap time, and whatever else you wimps do! Workout at home, on vacation, wherever you are, but forget about the gym.
Walkies
Dean Karnazes works while running hundreds of miles. You can start by walking. I recommend two walks per day – one for business in the morning and one for meditation after the sun goes down. 2 walks, 10 minutes each, and I know you spend more time than this talking on the phone each day and have broken umpteen resolutions to meditate for more time than this. Get some feet and get to it already!
Chories
Remember that dirty basement? Time to start working out.
There’s rarely anything better than the things you don’t like to do.
That’s right, I’m talking about legs, back, traps, and all those movements you’re scared of: squats, dead lifts, lunges, shrugs, and every version of a fireman’s carry you can imagine. Using good form, get down and get to work on that dirty basement, on those boxes in the attic, on the shed you always meant to reorganize. Try to stay on your feet as much as possible, and before your knees use your hands, and always be mindful of your form, especially your hips, back and knees.
