The first Bikram posture is Standing Deep Breathing – Pranayama series. This breathing exercise settles you into a relaxed, calm and controlled mindset, heart rate and breathing pattern. The focused breathing prepares you for the rest of the ninety minute practice by recentering your focus inwardly and brings you to presence in ‘now.’ It consists of two sets of ten inhale and exhale cycles with corresponding head, arm and shoulder movements.
