Consider higher-fidelity

It’s easier to blend in with the group than to become a true individual. 

Blending in is low-friction, individuality is high-friction but higher-fidelity — it costs more but tends to produce a self you can live with, you can accept.

You do the slower work, notice where your views diverge from the group’s, tolerate the discomfort of standing apart, and build a sense of self that doesn’t collapse the moment it’s not confirmed by others.

You become who you are by learning, and accepting, who you are.
