Fact, or opinion?
Don’t confuse facts with opinions. Online media and postings make the job difficult, with their constant attempts to persuade and shape reality.
In a perfect world, facts are verifiable, and reasoned opinions are based on facts that have undergone critical thinking. Today you also face the dumpster dive into rage bait, pseudo-opinion, and all sorts of misdirection – deliberate or otherwise.
The next time you jump to a conclusion from what you see or hear online, and feel yourself spinning into a negatively charged spiral, take a step back from that black vortex. Check where your head was before it started to spin.
Work on mindfulness. It’s bigger than stress reduction. It’s knowing your mind well enough to make it harder for others to operate it for you.
